third update

Well, I'm still stumped for a subject, however I did think of another idea this morning: UNI puts a lot of things in storage, but why? What determines what goes in storage? Why are they storing it? Could they be selling these items to generate revenue, or is it more cost effective to store them?

I don't think anyone's thought of this in much detail before...I'm not sure who to contact but I'd obviously better figure it out quickly. I'll have to figure out who to contact about this, but it's not a horrible idea (I think).

Let's see: is this broad enough to be a full-fledged multimedia project? I guess we won't know until you do some research. Perhaps there are some hidden secrets to UNI. I know that 2X a year there is an auction where people can buy things like old secretary chairs, bookshelves, computers, etc. That may be a place to start...the auction is held in this warehouse by the prairie center, and I think last year it was in the East Gym. I think people don't bring bikes to school b/c there's no place to store them over the winter...are is there? I know the storage room that has all the theater stuff is one of the most fascinating places ever...tons and tons of meticulously-labled costumes and boxes of wigs, cumber buns (sp?), and lace hankies.....also furniture furniture furniture and a ton of props from various eras...so perhaps you could interpret storage rather widely?
The thing is: beyond the article, what would you do for the slideshow (visualize all storage faciilities, with extra info about what's inside); video (interview head of storage), interactive map (show where the UNI storage facilities are); chart???
Maybe do some investigating to see whether this is doable.
